Artist Statement

Art making, for me, is a continuous process of contemplation and study.  Emotional connection with the subject matter is almost always the starting point. The creation of emotion and atmosphere is my goal. I have an appreciation for many forms of painting, and teaching art has helped inspire me to investigate more than one “style”. I enjoy painting meditations on pop culture images. Sometimes I like balancing geometic forms, patterns  or colors;  sometimes I like scrawling or raw linemaking.
